Free Burgers August 28th

I'm pleased to announce that on August 28, 2010 I'll cooking and giving away free slider burgers at the Sparking Pointe Winery in Southhold NY (North Fork of LI). Event starts at 1pm.

These burgers will feature the famous house blend of chop meat from NYC's Pat La Frieda meats and will be topped with the most amazing cheese called Snofrisk, which is from Norway and Rock Chive Cress; Snofrisk is much like cream cheese but is made from 80% goat milk; I first served similar burgers in June 2010 at the James Beard House. Since then these Snofrisk burgers have become increasing popular. I'm bringing enough meat to make 200 sliders, starting at 1pm. So come down, check out the burgers, the music (Live Music by Ray Penney) and the Sparking Wine...

Sparkling Pointe happens to be the only winery in New York State who exclusively produces Sparkling Wines. All vintages are made in the Methode Champenoise Style, respecting the traditional methods of making French Champagne. Since it’s birth in 2001, Sparkling Pointe has gained national recognition, winning the Sweepstakes Award at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine competition for the Best Sparkling in America in 2008.

Since the Sparkling Pointe tasting room has been open, in October of 2009, it has been voted as one of the Top 5 Venue’s Outside of NYC by BizBash Magazine.

Specially for August 28th these burgers will be topped with Rock Chive Cress a micro vegetable from Koppert Cress which is also located on Long Island.

1. You must be a U.S. Citizen aged 18 or over to enter. Enter as many times as you’d like by posting as many photos as you like.
2. All photos and rights to the photos become property of New York Water Taxi and Water Taxi Beach and may be used in advertising and promotional materials.
3. All submissions must be posted by October 15th.
4. Contest will be judged by New York Water Taxi and winners will be notified by November 1.
5. Prizes are valid from November 2, 2006 – November 2, 2007.
6. Winning photos must be provided on CD to New York Water Taxi once winner is notified and before prize is distributed.

New Picture Platform

We have a new way to take pictures at Water Taxi Beach. It's our Picture Platform.. Elevated a few feet above the sand, it lets you shoot pictures of the Manhattan skyline without getting our safety fence into the shot. Likewise, you can stand up on it with Mom, that special someone or the crew from your job and snap away!

There are lots of great things to take pictures of here.. The view, the clouds, the great tasting Motz Burger, not to mention the sun bathers and the volleyball players...

I'm here almost all the time, too much if you ask some... and well since I'm here, you might as well try to take a picture of me.. Not one of me stuffing a burger in my mouth or when i'm hangling with our beer vendors for a better price, but a nice picture of me hanging out with the people I like best.. Our customers.

The Fine Print: How Winners Are Selected

1. How Winners are Selected. Contest winners will be determined by a panel of judges from New York Water Taxi.. Altogether, three (3) winners will be selected. The Submissions will be judged based on the following criteria: (i) consistency with the theme of the Contest, (ii) exhibition of a new perspective on a photographic subject, (iii) quality of the image on the Submission, and (iv) composition and the use of innovative techniques in creation of the Submission. The decision of the judges will be final.

2. Prizes. Three (3) winners will be awarded the prizes described below. Taxes, if any, related to the prizes are the sole responsibility of the winner. The prizes cannot be assigned, transferred, redeemed for cash, or substituted except by Sponsors who may, at their sole discretion, substitute any prize with one of comparable value if the advertised prize is or becomes unavailable for any reason. Sponsors will not replace any lost of stolen prizes.
Grand Prize: value: $ 4,570.00
First Prize: value $4,320.00
Second Prize: value $250.00

3. Winner Notification; Declaration of Eligibility; Delivery of Prizes. Winners will be notified after the end of the Contest Period to the email address provided by the winner during the registration process. If a participant changes his/her email address after entering into the Contest, it is his/her sole responsibility to update his/her email address in their account by the end of the Contest Period. Winners will be required to sign a Declaration of Eligibility, which must be properly executed and returned within ten (10) days after notification and issuance of the Declaration of Eligibility.

The prizes shall be delivered to the winners at the address on their respective Declaration of Eligibility. Delivery of the prizes may be by courier service, postal service or other means as determined solely by the Sponsors. The Sponsors shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever that is suffered (including, but not limited to, indirect or consequential loss) in the delivery of the prizes to the winners.

In addition to the basic rules above, here’s the fine print: By entering this Contest, you consent to the use of your name, photo and/or likeness, biographical information, winning entry and statements attributed to winner (if true) for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation. As such, you hereby grant to Sponsor a non-exclusive, fully transferable,perpetual, irrevocable, royalty free, fully paid up right and license to adapt, edit, modify, publish, promote, reproduce, distribute, publicly display and perform and make derivative works based on your Submission in any and all media as Sponsor sees fit for any reason, to identify you as the author of the Submission and to authorize others to do any of the above without any obligation to compensate you; You represent and warrant to Sponsors that you are the sole and exclusive owner of your Submission, or that you have all right and authority to grant the rights in the Submission to Sponsors described herein; you have obtained any and all releases necessary from all persons depicted in the Submissions, including, without limitation, releases in the context of rights of privacy and rights of publicity; and in the event that a person depicted in a Submission is under eighteen (18) years of age, you are the parent or legal guardian of such person, or if you are not the parent or legal guardian, you have obtained all appropriate permissions and releases from the parent or legal guardian of the person in question, to submit the Submission for the Contest. Employees of New York Water Taxi or Water Taxi Beach or any of their agencies or representatives are not eligible to enter. By entering the Contest, you expressly agree not to submit an image or content that is unlawful, libelous, slanderous, defamatory or invasive of another person’s right of privacy or right of publicity, or that may reasonably deemed harmful, vulgar, obscene, derogatory, pornographic, abusive, harassing, threatening, hateful, objectionable with respect to race, religion, creed, national origin or gender, or otherwise unfit for publication. Sponsors shall not be liable in any way for a Submission. Sponsors shall the right to monitor submissions at their discretion. The Sponsors will not return any Submissions submitted on or through the Contest Site; Your Information. The information submitted by you during the registration process includes your name and email address (“Personal Information”) and will only be used by Sponsors in accordance with applicable data protection regulations and the Privacy Policy of each of their websites, for the purposes of administrating your participation in the Contest.
